Trust Precision Engineering is a subcontracting firm, specialising in sliding head machining. Founded in 2011, the company is dedicated to producing precision components, primarily for the aerospace sector. They prioritise exceptional quality and guaranteed on-time delivery to achieve the utmost customer satisfaction.
With its rapid growth, Trust Precision Engineering faced the challenge of upholding its unwavering commitment to quality amidst the increasing volumes of products and customers it serves.
Through its ongoing partnership with VICIVISION UK, Trust Precision Engineering gained the assurance that its products will undergo accurate and comprehensive inspection. This valuable partnership allows Trust Precision Engineering to expand its production capabilities and further enhance its customer base with full confidence in the quality of their end-product.
Project Brief:
One of their primary concerns was how to meet the significantly increased production volumes while maintaining the high-quality standards demanded by their expanding customer base.
Nick Street, the Managing Director of Trust Precision Engineering, recognised the need for additional equipment to address this issue.
“The amount of components we were producing meant we were struggling to keep up with the amount of inspections we would like to have done on a component. There was an obvious need for extra equipment.”
Initially, the company explored a shaft measuring machine proposed by a previous supplier.
“They demonstrated their shaft measuring machine, which appeared fine, but we decided against it after visiting a high-end medical customer. Using this equipment, [the customer] had struggled with gauge repeatability and reproducibility so only used it on more basic components, and they’d already had to upgrade,” said Nick.
This experience led Trust Precision Engineering to reconsider their options and seek alternative solutions to address their quality control needs.
The Solution:
“When researching that piece of equipment, I came across VICIVISION UK. The machine specifications were impressive, the speed and the ease of programming and the actual inspection time was very quick – it covered everything,” said Nick.
VICIVISION UK is a leading supplier of optical, non-contact turned-part measurement machines and quality control systems dedicated to improving efficiency in production, reducing down time and increasing productivity.
“What I’ve seen over the years is you can get so focused on a particular critical dimension or area of a component that sometimes something less critical goes under the radar and ends up being wrong, whereas with VICIVISION you check everything externally and nothing gets missed,” said Nick.
The Benefits:
VICIVISION UK delivers the fastest cylindrical, non-contact measurement machines, using a combination of video and light projection. This product offers cutting-edge performance that is perfectly suited for shop-floor environments.
Their design makes immediate inspection available, reducing downtime while enabling operators to remain within the production environment.
VICIVISION UK’s unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service, including training, repairs, spare part supplies, and maintenance support, has been instrumental in fostering a positive and ongoing relationship with Trust Precision Engineering.
After a year of utilising their previous VICIVISION machine, Trust Precision Engineering made the decision to upgrade to the Techno series, acquiring two brand new M304 Techno machines for their new inspection room, providing benchmark reliability in measuring cylindrical parts and enable fast and efficient batch changing.
“After a year we moved our old VICIVISION out and bought the two brand new ones to go in the new inspection room. They really are fantastic pieces of equipment and mean every dimension of a part is checked – there’s nothing left to chance,” said Nick.
Why VICIVISION UK?
“It’s one less thing for me to worry about and gives me complete confidence in what we’re doing,” said Nick.
VICIVISION’s state of the art accuracy and reliability has instilled complete confidence in inspections, making it highly beneficial for Trust Precision Engineering.
“On a single VICIVISION UK machine alone, in six months to a year you’ll get your ROI back.”
