Project Brief:
“We initially invested about 15 years ago in an OGP UK SmartScope system with the rotary axis,” stated Kevan Kane, Managing Director of Technoset.
However, as Technoset expanded its machine tool capabilities over time, they realised the importance of upgrading their measurement system to match.
“The most important thing we were looking for was reliability and repeatability,” said Kevan.
“Without [advanced] measurement capabilities you can’t produce sophisticated parts with any degree of confidence. If a customer challenges something, how can you defend yourself if you can’t measure it.”

“We recently purchased the VICIVISION, which is more of a laser scanning machine. The beauty of this machine is you are able to programme a part very quickly” said Kevan.
“The customers expectations are for their products to be on time, in full. Quality is an absolute given but they want it at the lowest cost possible. This was a large factor in our decision-making process. We purchased the VICIVISION UK machine because of its speed, reliability and repeatability.”

“Within 30 seconds they have a report of maybe 30 or 35 different features and characteristics,” explained Kevan.
“In a lot of cases an operator can go to the machine, load their part, press the button – it scans the product and auto recognises that product and goes automatically to the programme, so it’s very easy for the operator.”
